The simulation of the Organization of the American States in its first edition addressedwhat it has come to be known as the “2019 American Spring agenda”. This agenda works on looking for solutions to corruption, governmental instability and migration.
During the opening ceremony, the delegates had the pleasure to listen to Mr. Tapia, Magistrate in the Peruvian courts, Mrs. Pérez Tello ex Peruvian minister of Justice and Human Rights and Mr. Cucala ex magistrate in of the Spanish Supreme Court of Justice.
Being the first session hosted in the Spanish Senate, the delegates had the pleasure of counting with the presence of the Honorable Mr. Pedro Sanz Alonso, First Vice-President of the Senate. During the speeches that preceded the beginning of the first session the importance of this types “games” was revendicated. Simulations whereyouth gets to learn about how international cooperation works at the same time that they develop necessary skill such as public speaking, argumentation and teamwork. Moved by the stories shared during the opening of the first session, delegates from all over the world took the endeavor of trying to find solutions that vex the American States.
The general assembly was constituted by almost 150 member states, permanent observers and international aid organizations. Being approximately half Latin-Americans delegates, the three intense days of debate were enriched by their first-personknowledge.
Unfortunately,the assemblydidn’t reach aconsensus but the experience of talking in front of all the delegates, authorities and visitors in the Spanish Senate, the friends made and the knowledgeacquired won´t be forgotten.
